Conservazione dei giardini storici e conservazione del patrimonio culturale ‘tout court’. Temi e problemi nella dimensione globale dell’attuale dibattito della disciplina del restauro

Reading back today texts of the 1981 Florentine Garden Restoration Charters allows us to take a retrospective look. It regards the evolution of the specific debate regarding the restoration of historic gardens and at the same time reflecting on restoration discipline tout court. References to a more general framework cannot be ignored, including the implications and advances that have affected the discipline of restoration tout court, in its increasingly complex and globalized field of interest. As is known, the progressive extension of the debate at an international level occurred in the last decades, as we can see in the sharing of multiple documents and papers concerning cultural heritage in its complexity and specificities. This contribution exams the problem of the protection and conservation of the historic gardens into the global challenge which restoration discipline must face today, as the sharing of cultural heritage and the economic and ecological-environmental sustainability.
