Raffaello 500 & Piranesi 300: padri dell’antico

In the 500 aniversary of the death of Raphael and in the 300 aniversary of the birth of Piranesi, a tribute to these two artists, both accounting among the fathers who have investigated the history of the relations with the antique and approached issues of monuments' protection. Both studied the map of the ancient Rome, both competed as Commissioners of Antiquities, both celebrated the authority of Vitruvius and documented, through their works, the always vivid role of antiquity as a pathway to the elaboration of the modern language
