The main objective of the article is to analyze the HBIM method as a necessary tool in the drafting of an intervention proposal for the protection and reuse of buildings of high historical and architectural value (Bastem & Cekmis 2021). Through a case study developed on the old La Ceramo majolica factory in Valencia, the potential of HBIM in terms of gathering and protecting information and public participation in the design process has been analyzed. As a result, it has been possible to verify how the HBIM allows improving the quality of interventions in buildings owned by the Public Administration in line with the sustainable development challenges of the UN 2030 Agenda, by being able to anticipate behaviors and prevent possible risks.
