Abstract
The Preppers’ movement – which comes from “preparedness” – was born in the United States in the late 1960s, and it lays on actively preparing for a potential emergency. Environmental catastrophes, economic collapse, pandemic: for them, human survival depends on designing safe and self-sufficient spaces. Through the analysis of a series of Preppers’ shelters, the contribution aims to trace some of the characters of this architecture of paranoia that, albeit extreme, offers a perspective on the different approaches to control, by the design, an increasingly indeterminate and uncertain reality.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
