This article comments on the results of a research study conducted by the Fondazione Enrico Mattei which questioned 25 experts from 20 cities around the world about the eff ects that COVID-19 will have on the lives of people in cities. There was considerable agreement among the experts. What emerges is an interesting picture that allows us to examine the impact of the pandemic not only in terms of the need to return to the prior situation, but also as the need to transform cities in a perspective of greater environmental, economic and social sustainability.

Abstract
