A boundary element method formulation coupled with the impedance boundary condition is proposed as an efficient way to compute the frequency-dependent impedance of axisymmetric air-core inductors. The formulation is based on the splitting of the magnetic vector potential into a source and an eddy current component in the axisymmetric field. The proposed technique is tested against standard finite element method results.

Abstract

A boundary element method formulation coupled with the impedance boundary condition is proposed as an efficient way to compute the frequency-dependent impedance of axisymmetric air-core inductors. The formulation is based on the splitting of the magnetic vector potential into a source and an eddy current component in the axisymmetric field.
