The structural and electronic properties of a Pb monolayer (ML) grown on Au(111) are investigated by scanning tunneling microscopy (STM) and angle resolved photoelectron spectroscopy (ARPES). We find an incommensurate Moiré structure with an approximate (5.77×5.77) R21.5 â̂̃ unit cell, and two rotational domains. We observe three Pb-derived bands of p orbital character. The symmetry properties and sharpness of their Fermi surfaces are remarkably different. They reflect the different degrees of hybridization of these bands with the Au(111) bulk continuum. © 2013 American Physical Society.

Abstract
© 2013 American Physical Society.File in questo prodotto:
