Abstract

The idea of Paolo Cognetti, writer winner of the Strega award, to build a hostel and a research centre in the mountain stems from the need to create a place capable of hosting, in different forms, the new ways of living in the mountains. The existing building is a stone mountain pasture structure, which has been dismantled and reassembled around a newly built pre- fabricated wooden core. The roof houses the photovoltaic panels on the southwest pitch, necessary to respond to the demands of energy sustainability, while the second pitch is made of larch wood planks, accepted by the Superintendency because it is part of the local construction tradition.
