This paper reviews the literature on different types of design and monitoring systems of limb prostheses for users. It discusses the users' needs and concerns about their prosthetic devices. The requirements of users for limb prostheses design are explored. Several approaches used for designing and manufacturing the passive and active limb prostheses for amputees are reviewed. Moreover, the advantages and limitations of the technologies used in the previous studies for monitoring gait analysis are also analyzed. Additionally, the gender differences on design and assessment of limb prosthesis for amputees are presented. This study aims to comprehensively provide design factors of prostheses thereby increasing users' satisfaction and reducing prostheses abandonment.

Abstract
This paper reviews the literature on different types of design and monitoring systems of limb prostheses for users. It discusses the users' needs and concerns about their prosthetic devices. The requirements of users for limb prostheses design are explored. Several approaches used for designing and manufacturing the passive and active limb prostheses for amputees are reviewed. Moreover, the advantages and limitations of the technologies used in the previous studies for monitoring gait analysis are also analyzed. Additionally, the gender differences on design and assessment of limb prosthesis for amputees are presented. This study aims to comprehensively provide design factors of prostheses thereby increasing users' satisfaction and reducing prostheses abandonment.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
