The present invention refers to a process of metallization of plastic substrates by means of physical vapor deposition (PVD) which comprises the chemical activation of the substrate, the coating thereof by means of a primer and the subsequent deposition of a metal layer. The invention further relates to the metallized plastic substrates obtainable according to the process.
