(Ri)Camminu: un progetto di territorio per contrastare l’abbandono dei borghi calabresi

The paper presents the outcomes of a master-degree thesis which has at its focus the analysis of the present condition of demographic decline in Calabria and the construction of a territorial project with the objective of mobilising local resources and re-interpreting them in a perspective of territorial development. In the first section, a framework on the phenomenon of depopulation with particular reference to the Calabrian situation is presented. In the second section, the distinctive features of Ri(Camminu) project –the new soft-mobility path that crosses from North to South the Calabria region– are highlighted. Emphasis is placed on the capacity of the project to reactivate historical routes and link together existing local paths. The conclusion reflects upon the relevance that internal areas can have for the territorial development of the whole Country.
