In the call for paper originating this Special Issue, we outlined as the main goal to explore the meaning and implications of adopting digital technologies in the transition of companies’ business model towards Circular Economy. This objective arises from the evidence that, despite the growing interest reserved by scholars and practitioners in both the perspectives of digitalization and circular business models, their mutual effects and the full comprehension of their implications continue to be still rather under-researched.
