From the immediate postwar period to the mid-1960s, the kitchen environment represents a social and cultural topos in Italy; as such it is influenced by gender stereotypes and embodies reflections and research developed by contemporaneous architects and by the renewed, or new, furniture industry. In a landscape tinged with the adhesion to or re-elaboration of the models offered by the European rationalist kitchen or the United States typologies, select women architects and interior designers experiment with different approaches, which hint at a different spatial and existential concept of the kitchen.

Abstract
From the immediate postwar period to the mid-1960s, the kitchen environment represents a social and cultural topos in Italy; as such it is influenced by gender stereotypes and embodies reflections and research developed by contemporaneous architects and by the renewed, or new, furniture industry. In a landscape tinged with the adhesion to or re-elaboration of the models offered by the European rationalist kitchen or the United States typologies, select women architects and interior designers experiment with different approaches, which hint at a different spatial and existential concept of the kitchen.File in questo prodotto:
