The paper questions if is it possible to recompose the gap existing between innovation and conservation in architecture and if authenticity is a matter to be considered. Some examples, works of distinguished contemporary architects, are reminded in order to collect a set of approaches towards the past which are often quoted and appreciated both by critics and public. The sensibility of some masters for a lasting architecture which is able to sincerely record changes will be underlined. It will also be pointed out the increasing interest of the public for these kinds of experiences. These topics allow deepening the attributes of ‘authenticity’ in order to enhance material evidences instead of metaphysical concepts as a practicable guideline for innovation into preservation.

Abstract
The paper questions if is it possible to recompose the gap existing between innovation and conservation in architecture and if authenticity is a matter to be considered. Some examples, works of distinguished contemporary architects, are reminded in order to collect a set of approaches towards the past which are often quoted and appreciated both by critics and public. The sensibility of some masters for a lasting architecture which is able to sincerely record changes will be underlined. It will also be pointed out the increasing interest of the public for these kinds of experiences. These topics allow deepening the attributes of ‘authenticity’ in order to enhance material evidences instead of metaphysical concepts as a practicable guideline for innovation into preservation.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
