The achievement of a sustainable development on a global scale requires the elaboration and implementation of multiple governance scenarios, which should build plural societies able to guarantee in a lasting way to all human beings decent living conditions in healthy, pleasant, and stimulating environments. These governance scenarios must consider at the same time the main dimensions that characterize human societies from the environmental to the socioeconomic ones; the different territorial scales, ranging from global to supranational and national down to the innumerable local situations; and the different functional sectors, from building to energy and from mobility to production.

Abstract

The achievement of a sustainable development on a global scale requires the elaboration and implementation of multiple governance scenarios, which should build plural societies able to guarantee in a lasting way to all human beings decent living conditions in healthy, pleasant, and stimulating environments. These governance scenarios must consider at the same time the main dimensions that characterize human societies from the environmental to the socioeconomic ones; the different territorial scales, ranging from global to supranational and national down to the innumerable local situations; and the different functional sectors, from building to energy and from mobility to production.
