Editors’ note

The chief goal of this volume is to verify the heritage and novelty of Aldo Rossi’s thinking and work on the themes of architecture and the city, not only in Italy – where his work is still the basis of many teachings in different schools – but above all in other countries around the world. To this end, and allowing for the interval between that extraordinary theoretical and design experience and the many changes that have taken place, we have turned to the younger generations of scholars who represent the future of research and teaching. The four sections into which the volume is divided – “Theory & Design”, “Teaching & Design”, “International Design Legacy”, “Design” – aim to enhance the reading of the book by introducing a possible interpretative key right from the outset.
