Abstract
The Bergamo St. Agata Church Hall most symbolic element is the Attic, where it is currently possible to admire the frescoed vault. It wasn’t so before. In fact, everyone from the upper town knows that the construction was actually not a church. Actually, for more than a century, before the closing in the 70’s, it had been designated to city prison. Nowadays, thanks to the renovation design of the building complex (signed Colleoni, architect and urbanist and Melania Licini, architect) “It has been possible to remove all the improper additions to the original construction, in order to bring to light its ancient beauty”. These are the words from Aldo Ghilardi, director of the “Cooperativa Città Alta” association, which design interventions consisted in the restoration of the beautiful frescoed medallions on the vault supporting the roof. No one expected to retrieve such spaces and paintings, because we are all bound to the image of a prison.” A jump into history, which is strictly tied to the Theatine Friars’ monastery. This is our aim, to retrieve history, to offer space to the community through a place of culture and sociality.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
