Progettare spazi aperti in una valle / Designing open spaces in a valley

The book is the result of an international workshop. The challenge was looking at open space as a combination of urban materials and practices of uses. The techniques of spatial-temporal analysis are combined with traditional morphological and social analysis. This perspective is an opportunity to work on liveability of spaces in term of quality of services and facilities for the inhabitants, as well as to promote the enhancement of tourism and cultural heritage and a less occasional presence of temporary inhabitants. Moreover, the planning proposals pay attention to the little villages and some marginal area of the territory: it is a way to focus on a large part of Italy and Europe. And in these places, working on open spaces we invite to design with “care and maintenance” of territories, to enhance what of the local heritage can be re-evaluated, accepting to work on repetitive, fine grain interventions that are sometimes banal (the ordinary city) but that can also be able to start a little change.
