The city of Sanya on China's Hainan Island is a popular resort known for its warm, tropical climate that can be enjoyed throughout the year. This project involves a masterplan for one of the city districts in the Haitang district, as well as for a museum inside this area. Here, an apartment complex, boutique hotel, Ascot Hotel, artist's residence, and a museum will be built under the theme of "Art Living,'' with the entire project spanning over a totaI of 140,000 m2. Since the weather is warm and gentle, there was an idea to create large terraces for enjoying the outdoors, which eventually led the way to our masterplan concept. We designed a configuration in which bright and open terraces link together, with a slab that gradually sets back as it extends upward. Furthermore, the positioning and shape of each building were determined by making sure that each unit had both privacy and good views. This resulted in a mountain range-like configuration and volume. It is our hope that this organic configuration and design that takes advantage of the uniquely warm climate will inspire new experiences, encouraging the people to engage with art in unprecedented ways.

Abstract
It is our hope that this organic configuration and design that takes advantage of the uniquely warm climate will inspire new experiences, encouraging the people to engage with art in unprecedented ways.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
