In the Italian Pavilion of the XXII Triennale di Milano, Broken Nature: Design Takes on Human Survival, curated by the Politecnico di Milano, 41 research projects were collected from within that institution and one of the most interesting aspects that emerged was the connection between research and the third sector and the general theme of participation. The research is definitely changed by the participation, the researchers are not isolated and solitary, and especially in the projects focused on the broad theme Broken Nature, participation is necessary of humans in general – communities, inhabitants and local stakeholders.
