The main goal of this research is to consider the Ruskin’s approach in the Byzantine architecture studies and the European one in the XIX Century, when Europe was characterised by a political homogenization starting from the political and cultural character of Europe immediately before the emerging of the totalitarian regimes. In general terms, the Byzantine architecture and the Byzantine art represent a historical moment of unification of the Eastern and Western part of Europe. The diverse political and social reason had an influence on the approaches and the results of the research on the history and the character of the Byzantine products. The analyses of Ruskin and the comparison of the contemporary studies on the Byzantine architecture in Western Europe, open to the studies of the relationships with the interests of this period in the eastern part of Europe, as in the Russian Empire and in Poland. The study wishes to offer an investigation on the relationships or the connections of the Ruskin’s studies, not only with the literature in this field, but on the Byzantine culture in general.
