Home, conceived as a place where the human experience of living comes alive, when it is a service addressed to fragile people, constitutes one of the foundations on which to build a social infrastructure aimed at achieving an inclusive housing welfare. In 2016 “Dopo di Noi” (After us) law came into force (Law. no. 112/2016), containing “Provisions on assistance for people with severe disabilities without family support”. The law aims to promote the well-being, full social inclusion and autonomy of people with disabilities, providing measures that allow parents to address the issue of their sons’ future: the life project of “durante e dopo di noi” (during and after us). Social inclusion is the essential condition for carrying out a project of this magnitude because it is based on the principle of the resilient community that respects and accommodates fragility conditions, interpreting them as resource and value to be shared. In 2017 “Comitato Officina Dopo Di Noi” was founded to promote the law in the transformation of the need into right and to achieve a better life experience in which people with disabilities can be accompanied to a new way of living, gradually acquiring levels of autonomy from the birth family. This paper presents “CASA MIA” project promoted by “Dopo di Noi” Foundation of Correggio and implemented by Andria Cooperative of Inhabitants. A home where young people with disabilities will live together for their free and conscious choice. The project perfectly interprets law n. 112/2016, having involved from the beginning future inhabitants and a network of different actors among institutions, cooperatives of inhabitants and associations of the third sector. It is a project that can take on a strategic value because it presents scalable characteristics in its conception, construction, in the method and evaluation of the social impact produced. An inclusive living experience that will build a place that everyone can ideally call “CASA MIA”.
