The aim of the pilot project “Let’s design the school together” is the identification and experimentation of a design method for schools requalification based on participatory plan- ning understood in terms both of active involvement by children, teachers and parents, and of multidisciplinary design by a team of architects, designers and engineers. The primary school belonging to the Istituto Comprensivo Luigi Cadorna in Milan was identified as an example case study on which to operate. In summary, the state of the art analysis and the outcomes of design workshops with children and questionnaires addressed to students, school staff and parents, were assumed as a basis for elaborating design hypotheses to be submitted to the school community and, following discussion and verification, to be fina- lized in concrete proposals. Design hypotheses and proposals that concerned re-functionaliza- tion interventions of spaces as well as qualitative interventions related to furnishing solutions, finishing materials, light and color. The contribution presents the assumptions of the project, the design method adopted and some of the proposed solutions
