In that essay the history of the commission and the travel of the famous copy of Leonardo's Last Supper once kept in the certosa di Pavia is summarized, in the light of new findings and documents. The role played by that copy in the context of the Leonardo fortune in England at the beginning of XIX century is also considered, especially thanks to Sir Thomas Lawrence, then director of the Royal Academy of Art, who bought it, and the others RA artists like Henry Fuseli, Flaxman, Turner and David Wilkie and to the comments by John Ruskin.
