Architectural teaching in VKhUTEMAS in the twenties lead by M. Ja. Ginzburg and I.A. Golosov eas strongly linked with the "fomal methodology" of OPOJAZ on literature (V. Sklovskij, Ju. Tinjanov, O. Brik). In these teaching architectural experiences of past ages was reviewed throught the lents of compositional methodology based on the concepts of "rhytm" (Ginzburg) and "mass" (Golosov). The formalsit approach of the two authors had been reconsidered in several contemporary architectural design (Canella in Italt, Stirling in Great Britain, Eisenman in USA) and architectural teaching (Politecncio di Milano, Cooper Union).
