The economic assessment of a landscape represents a complex task and integrated approaches are therefore needed in order to properly consider all the relevant aspects. A valuable support in such a context is offered by the Conjoint Analysis (CA) methodology which refers to a variegated set of mainly statistical methodologies that aim to study individual choices using preference expressed about various profiles, i.e. several versions of a product or service. Starting from a real case concerning the vineyard landscape of the Langhe area (Italy), the present study investigates the use of the Conjoint Analysis for the estimation of the economic value of the landscape.

Abstract

The economic assessment of a landscape represents a complex task and integrated approaches are therefore needed in order to properly consider all the relevant aspects. A valuable support in such a context is offered by the Conjoint Analysis (CA) methodology which refers to a variegated set of mainly statistical methodologies that aim to study individual choices using preference expressed about various profiles, i.e. several versions of a product or service. Starting from a real case concerning the vineyard landscape of the Langhe area (Italy), the present study investigates the use of the Conjoint Analysis for the estimation of the economic value of the landscape.
