This paper highlights the possibility to realize innovative building systems, thanks to additive manufacturing, opening to the way to mass customization in AEC. Two examples of experimental building systems are described developed at ABC Dept of Politecnico di Milano University. In conclusion some 'what if' are traced for a wide diffusion of innovation and AM in AEC.
