Abstract From the work of Figini and Pollini emerges the idea that each territory with its own morphology can be traced back to an image of landscape - between nature, technique and culture - shared and recognized by the inhabitants. This is the key to interpret the photographic campaigns on various landscapes documented in the archive, sometimes the subject of publications, sometimes used as backgrounds for the representation of projects, sometimes part of the analytical work in the survey of a territory. It is a line of research that defines architecture at the border between nature, geography and history, represented through drawings on the geographical scale, which corresponds to the frequent use of photomontage as a real expressive tool, capable of expressing an allegorical synthesis of the natural. A way of working that is the origin of a relationship between architecture and photography that in Italy has generated some very significant experiences: from Gianni Berengo Gardin, to Luigi Ghirri, Paolo Monti, Mario Cresci, Gabriele Basilico, Giovanni Chiaromonte, Mimmo Jodice.
