This paper investigates the seismic performance of one-storey reinforced concrete structures for industrial buildings. To this aim, pseudodynamic tests on full-scale structures have been carried out. Two structural prototypes consisting of six-columns with two lines of beams and roof elements placed side by side have been designed. The prototypes differ each from the other only for the orientation of the roof elements with respect to the direction of the seismic action. The results of these tests show that an effective horizontal diaphragm action can be activated even if the roof elements are not connected among them, and confirm the expected good seismic performance of these precast systems.

Abstract

This paper investigates the seismic performance of one-storey reinforced concrete structures for industrial buildings. To this aim, pseudodynamic tests on full-scale structures have been carried out. Two structural prototypes consisting of six-columns with two lines of beams and roof elements placed side by side have been designed. The prototypes differ each from the other only for the orientation of the roof elements with respect to the direction of the seismic action. The results of these tests show that an effective horizontal diaphragm action can be activated even if the roof elements are not connected among them, and confirm the expected good seismic performance of these precast systems.
