L’architettura civile di Camillo Boito

Through the eight comparative drawings of Camillo Boito’s realized architectures, this study investigates Boito’s rational principles, the “modernity” of his architectonic organism and the functional layouts of his projects, as well as his constructive philosophy. Departing from the revival of the Boito’s figure by the architectural criticism of the fifties and the sixties and even more recent historical researches and debates, this study attempts to confront the specific architectural composition’s characteristics of Boito’s constructed works. In this research, the exploration throughout Boito’s sources, his inventive approach toward the architectural space, his narratives of organism and the passion for the geometric patterns, opens new horizons of his architectonical culture and thus, the fresh opportunities of further investigations.
