The tenth book of the Hypogean Archaeology Series is dedicated to the history of the Civic Aqueduct of Milan (built starting from 1889) and to the architectures for the take water from the subsoil: the wells and the ground water pumping stations. Water, fundamental element for life, has requested since ancient times the creation of systems to take it and lead it to the inhabited areas. The text offers the reader several ideas to grasp the importance of this element and to know the architectures adopted for its take from the depths of the subsoil; furthermore, there are examples of Italian ordinary wells and ancient aqueducts studied and surveyed by the National Federation of Artificial Cavities (F.N.C.A.). There is no lack of references to classical texts (Cesare Cesariano, Sesto Giulio Frontino, Vitruvio and others) that trace a "path" of Water Archeology and introducing the central argument.
