(Study for) Chapel for the Scenes of Public Life - The Meeting of Enrico Mattei and the Queen of Sheba/ House of Memory/ Make New History

The installation is a model of the “Chapel for Scenes of Public Life” in scale 1:2. The “chapel” tries to reimagine a possible contemporary public architecture starting from a reflection on Giotto and Piero della Francesca. In the “chapel" space and representation of space are taken as elements of a deliberate political project. The “chapel”has been realised by Navillus Woodworks under the supervision of Agata Mierzwa. The Meeting of Enrico Mattei and the Queen of Sheba, Scenes 1-7, 2017. All drawings are based on photographs taken by Stefano Graziani in June 2017 at Palazzo del Lavoro, Turin, Italy, built by Pier Luigi Nervi in 1961. These computer drawings were reproduced on the internal walls of the “chapel”. The enlarged, handmade drawings (6’ 4” x 10 ft) were realised in Chicago by Jimmy Carter, Andrew Jennings, Jamie Evelyn Goldsborough, and Juan Suarez under baukuh’s coordination.
