Coded modulation schemes based on inner convolutional codes and outer Reed Solomon codes are a simple yet effective way of achieving coding gains that bring the system close to the capacity of the AWGN channel. However, besides AWGN, other impairments as phase noise can affect radio and optical transmission. In this paper we study by simulation the performance of a coded modulation scheme in the presence of phase noise. As it happens in many modern transmission systems, pilot symbols are inserted to help demodulation.

Abstract
Coded modulation schemes based on inner convolutional codes and outer Reed Solomon codes are a simple yet effective way of achieving coding gains that bring the system close to the capacity of the AWGN channel. However, besides AWGN, other impairments as phase noise can affect radio and optical transmission. In this paper we study by simulation the performance of a coded modulation scheme in the presence of phase noise. As it happens in many modern transmission systems, pilot symbols are inserted to help demodulation.File in questo prodotto:
