Abstract

There is significant evidence that the performance of quadrotors degrades when operating close to the ground surface. While many studies on ground effect for conventional helicopters are available, its study for multirotor platforms has so far received limited attention. In view of this, in this paper the problem of characterising the operation of a quadrotor platform in ground effect is considered and the results obtained in an experimental campaign to this purpose are presented and discussed.
