This paper presents the result of the event "Debate - Ceramics: technical and sensorial aspects in research for innovation" that belongs to the project: Research on materials and innovation for application in the creative industries in the fields of design and architecture: the experience of Politecnico di Milano analysed from the perspective of the Brazilian reality. Its objectives are: to share experiences related to research on materials for design and architecture; to promote a dialogue among designers, architects, researchers and industry; to illustrate how this liaison occurs in the Italian scenario and suggest possible actions for implementation in Brazil. The debates count with representatives from different segments, such as ceramics, jewelry, furniture, packaging and toys. The ceramics sector debate involved researchers from Politecnico di Milano, University of São Paulo, Grupo Fragnani industry, ABCeram and Senai Mario Amato. The discussions showed ways of integration among academic research, industry and creative professionals.
