This paper presents the project "Materialize: physical and digital materials collection for design and architecture" developed by LabDesign (FAU USP) in partnership with the "Materioteca" (Politecnico di Milano). The parameters used in its implementation were based on the Italian experience, focused on the dissemination of data on physical-chemical properties of materials and on qualitative aspects involving sensory perception, fundamental in design. It also considered requirements of the architecture and the design courses and the context of public, free of charge undergraduate courses in Brazil. The Materialize collection contemplates materials available in the market, donated by companies, and those resulting from academic research, representing a valuable tool for disseminating its results. Clay recipes developed in research for application in art and design compose the collection. It is expected to incorporate materials resulting from investigations of the sectors of whiteware, glazes and even advanced ceramics, glimpsing their use in design and architecture.
