A novel mode-matching method for analysing multiple-slot couplings and simultaneous couplings on different walls of a rectangular cavity is presented. The method makes use of a six-port junction in rectangular waveguide allowing the access to a rectangular cavity from every direction. The addition of short circuits on all unused ports and of reducing/bifurcating discontinuities enables the shaping of coupling apertures as required. The analysis of a two-pole filter with a dual-slot central coupling confirms the accuracy of the proposed approach.

Abstract

A novel mode-matching method for analysing multiple-slot couplings and simultaneous couplings on different walls of a rectangular cavity is presented. The method makes use of a six-port junction in rectangular waveguide allowing the access to a rectangular cavity from every direction. The addition of short circuits on all unused ports and of reducing/bifurcating discontinuities enables the shaping of coupling apertures as required. The analysis of a two-pole filter with a dual-slot central coupling confirms the accuracy of the proposed approach.
