Couture in Orbit - Premio Eccellenze della Lombardia 2017

The European Space Agency (ESA) invited the Design School of the Politecnico di Milano to design the "Couture in Orbit "capsule collection using innovative materials and technologies derived from space research. The collection was presented during a special event with catwalk at the London Science Museum and the European Researchers’ Night at the Italian ESA/ESRIN venue. The project "Couture in Orbit" was developed by Annalisa Dominoni together with students of the Master level Course "Design for the Fashion System" and continued as a research activity thanks to the support of the ESA Technology Transfer Program (TTP) for the integration of smart materials and technologies. The initiative represents the first opening of ESA to the public intended to communicate through the language of fashion the importance of scientific research in orbit and the effects on everyday life through innovations aimed at improving overall well-being.
