Abstract

Nowadays, is a consolidated understanding that “Sustainable development is not possible without Sustainable Energy for All” (United Nation Decade, 2014-2024). Furthermore, Distributed Renewable Energies (DRE) are seen as key technical systems to achieve this aim. The LeNSes project (Learning Network for Sustainable energy systems) fit within this framework, as fare as it is aimed at developing and disseminating in African and European Higher Education Institutions a new design discipline: System Design for Sustainable Energy for All (SD4SEA), a design approach where the focus is moved from the mere product design for sustainable energies to the wider approach of Sustainable Product-Service Systems (S.PSS) design for sustainable energy for all. This chapter presents the Sustainable Energy for All Design Scenario developed within LeNSes project. This scenario aims to inspire and inform designers to design within a radically new social, economic and technical systems based on the following research hypothesis: Sustainable Product-Service Systems (S.PSS) are a promising model to diffuse Distributed Renewable Energies (DRE) in low and middle-income contexts . The findings have also been produced as a tool, in the form of a set of evocative videos.
