Espaço urbano intermediário: design e light art como catalisadores de mudança / Intermediate urban space: design and light art as catalysts for change

The purpose of this article is to suggest a possible conceptual contribution to inspire the production of ambiences and urban furniture in residual and peripheral areas of the contemporary city of the 21st century. This is also a modest attempt to contribute to fill the gap pointed out by Ezio Manzini about the emerging design culture. By mixing strategies of tactical urbanism and contemporary art, specifically light art, the goal is to blur the borders related to the so-called intermediate urban space, to potentiate the actions of their respective users. Working on the context of urban interior design (spatial design), the paper looks at different interpretations of how to blur borders (between disciplines, between kinds of knowledge and inside the intermediate urban space). Light art is thought as a way to activate the intermediate urban space, encouraging a more inclusive experience in the city, a form of beyond living.
