The 65,000-sqm hole in the heart of the Financial District, the focus of fifteen years of conflicts and arguments over reconstruction after September 11, 2001, has recently once again become a piece of city accessible to all and endowed with new urban functions. While work continues on the construction of the last office towers, the area is gradually assuming a definitive layout, a product of the vitality of the realestate rather than the exercises in planning with which the history of the reconstruction is studded, presenting themselves to international architectural culture as a new paradigm of modernity.
