Describing urban rhythms generated by practices, rather than defi ning them through opening/closing hours of activities, is an important perspective in exploring the complexity of the contemporary city. If the spatial-temporal variation in population density is missing in the daily travel patterns derived from traditional data, new tools for estimating people’s density and collecting mobility measurements from mobile phone traffic analysis have been introduced and studied during recent years. The paper, in order to analyse the complex temporal and spatial patterns of daily practices, introduces new maps, based on mobile phone data analysis, to present spatialized urban practices in Milan Urban Region.

Abstract
Describing urban rhythms generated by practices, rather than defi ning them through opening/closing hours of activities, is an important perspective in exploring the complexity of the contemporary city. If the spatial-temporal variation in population density is missing in the daily travel patterns derived from traditional data, new tools for estimating people’s density and collecting mobility measurements from mobile phone traffic analysis have been introduced and studied during recent years. The paper, in order to analyse the complex temporal and spatial patterns of daily practices, introduces new maps, based on mobile phone data analysis, to present spatialized urban practices in Milan Urban Region.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
