Il metodo scientifico di ricerca dello storico Lodovico Magugliani e il caso di tre Van Gogh ‘ritrovati’

This essay reconstructs the historical-critical method of analysis used by Lodovico Magugliani (1914-1982), art historian and expert of international renown, and in particular its connection with the applied sciences, whose investigations have always been intended by him as an element of fundamental importance for disown or enhance the personal criticism intuition. One method that has led him to conceive the own judgment as an open item to change, capable of giving sense to the material-formal and symbolic-representative expression of the work. To this methodological reading the author adds the analyzes and studies carried out by Magugliani in the fifties and sixties on three paintings he attributed for the first time to Vincent Van Gogh. The text, therefore, reopen the scientific debate on some partially unpublished works attributed to the great Dutch master, one of which, according to the same critic, should be painted by the impressionist master a few months before than his suicide.
