Unaivodably, phenomena of demographic migration tend to open up channels, through which information, emotions, knowledge and worldviews flow in both directions. Abstract
Unaivodably, phenomena of demographic migration tend to open up channels, through which information, emotions, knowledge and worldviews flow in both directions. This is the case of the relationship wich has mutually tied Italy and Argentina for over a century, which in architecture and urban planning has been fueled not only by contribution of the Italian community in the construction of the Capital federal, also by institutional opportunities to meet like international exhibitions and monographs for such occasions made. The book La Repubblica Argentina all'Esposizione Internazionale del Sempione, published in 1906 with the purpose of providing an overview of the Italian entrepreneurial spirit in Argentina, describes a heritage consisting of over 300 buildings realized in the latter part of the nineteenth century. It is an essential tool for reconstructing the history of the building of Italian origin in Buenos Aires -with particular reference to the residential sector, destined to radically change the face of the Argentine capital, from colonial city to modern metropolis- and to know an architectural legacy, still little studied and heavily threatened by the dynamics of urban transformation.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
