The idea of a “system of workshops in Florence for the propagation of the use of natural techniques and materials, and related behaviors” known as Global Tools emerged between 1972 and 1973 from an initiative of the most advanced area of Radical Architecture. It was formed against the backdrop of a growing academic power oriented by the teachings of Aldo Rossi. Influenced yet distanced from the circumstances, Global Tools was not set to achieve an ideological project, nor did it attempt to outline a social or methodological model. It was conceived to form a navigable operative field free of formal programming, where results were not judged under models of reference, but were acquired as acts of spontaneous communication. This contribution to the monographic volume dedicated Global Tools attempts to shed light on the main educational tools and institutional model of the initiative.

Abstract
This contribution to the monographic volume dedicated Global Tools attempts to shed light on the main educational tools and institutional model of the initiative.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
