The social innovation process of public-private partnership must be appropriately organised for coping with social problems faced by society, especially in turbulent environments. Based on the field of innovation management, turbulent environments are refereed by rapid changes in terms of technology availability and market requirements. Ambidexterity is a potential mechanism to support of organisations in the management of social innovation process in turbulent environments. This research explores the project level as the unity of analysis. It draws on the entire inductive and longitudinal study of ten highly innovative projects developed in the Trentino territory in Italy. This research contributes to service innovation field with a new model for organising social innovation process and ambidexterity in turbulent environments. It suggests that the co-creation of social innovation could be managed by ambidextrous organisations. The model supports the assessment of the environmental turbulence over the social innovation process, expanding on the service innovation field with the co-creation of civil society of new solutions for social problems.
