The paper will report about the InnovANCE research program development, funded by the Ministry of Economic Development, with the goal to define the Italian Construction Database. The InnovANCE database will contain the information about products and works along the whole building process in order to push a radical innovation in the Italian Construction sector. The database structure has been defined over a unique coding to identify resources to manage and control activities throughout the whole building process, using international classification systems. The digital information sheets have been developed in cooperation with the producers’ and constructors’ associations (ANCE, UNCSAAL, ANDIL, Federlegno, ATECAP, etc.) in order to allow actual implementation of the database. Specific sets of attributes are being defined in order to focus on specific data not contained in standard technical sheets. The InnovANCE database is linked to BIM objects and the output will be guaranteed as for in- teroperability by Buildingsmart Italy. A special focus is given to energy efficiency and sustainable development, thanks to the in- volvement of the Italian National Agency for New Technologies, Energy and Sustainable Eco- nomic Development (ENEA) and the Italian Standard Institute (UNI). In the last part of the research program actual case studies will use the database from design to construction in order to validate it.
