In the new Model Code Fibre Reinforced Concrete is finally recognized as a new material for constructions: this introduction will favour next structural applications because the new concepts requirement and the lack of International Building Codes has significantly limited up to now its use. In the Code a strong effort has been devoted to introduce a material classification to standardize a performance based production and stimulate an open market to every kind of fibre, favouring the rising of a new technological actor: the composite producer. From standard classification, simple constitutive models introduced allow the designer to identify effective design constitutive laws, trying to take into account the major contribution in term of performance and well orienting its structural use. Basic new concepts like structural characteristic length and new factors related to fibre distribution and structural redistribution benefit are taken into account. Few examples of structural design starting from constitutive laws identified are briefly shown.
