The paper reexamined the segregation status of 15 social categories, and found “the tenure of accommodation”, “the high income”, “high & high-middle class occupations”, “the British & Filipino” are the strong segregation factors in Hong Kong. Furthermore, by reviewing Hong Kong’s history of transforming to a global city, the paper pointed out these strong segregation factors are not only the result of economic choices, but also the liberalism political governance.

Abstract
