Energy consumptions for intensive users, like air separation units for industrial gases production, have been largely studied in literature both for operative and economic viewpoints. This work claims to exploit at the maximum levels the performances of an existing plant using a strategic coordinator able to manage the distribution of a gaseous product in a global way. The proposed approach uses a MILP type optimization with mixed-integer variables allowing the user to have the most efficient and profitable configuration of the distribution network minimizing energy consumption and maximizing the profit. Moreover the optimizer can handle the typical discontinuities of industrial gases demands avoiding expensive energy dissipations. Specific numeric solvers have been developed for the scope.
